Robert E. Chorley, Sr., 93, of Cortland, passed away December 18, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born October 17, 1917 in Cortland NY, the son of the late James and Hazel Geralds Chorley. Robert was a lifelong resident of the area. Robert served with United States Air Force during WW II, and was honorably discharged. He worked at Thompson Boat Co., Chris Craft Co., and then with ETL until his retirement. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family camping and traveling to Florida in the winter. He is survived by his daughter Hazel (Charles) Freer of Cortland ten grandchildren James (Tracy) Chorley, Lori (Brian) Robinson, Amy (Corey) Stevens, Kathy (Wayne) Harvey, Denise (Ed) Benjamin, Shane (Shelley) Chorley, Billy (Alley) Chorley, Roberta (Scott) Ludlow, Michelle (Tim) Barron, Angela (Mike) Sargeant, and their families, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his wife Ruth, his daughter Carol, his son Robert Jr., his brothers Francis and James, and his parents. Calling hours will be held Wednesday 10:30-11:45 am with a funeral to begin 12 noon at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln ave, Cortland NY, 13045, with his nephew Pastor Richard Chorley presiding.
