Obituary of Herman (Skip) Hale

Herman (Skip) Arthur Hale , born 12/5/1946 raised in Manlius Marred the love of his life, Kathy (Bush) Hale on March 8,1960. The moved to Cortland from LaFayette in 1972 sons Kip (Sloan) and Shane both of Cortland Daughters Sunday (Shawn) Earle of Cortland, Shannon (Ben) Westmoreland of McGraw. Siblings Gerald (Kim) and Lori (Mike) Pease Grandchildren-Kristopher,Lewis, Stephanie, Shawnessy,Mitchell,Jason,Jessie, Wyatt, Tully and Dominick Great Grandchild Gander, his beloved dog Murphy ,several nieces and nephews predeceased by his Parents- Herman and Bessie Hale, Skip was a truck driver most of his life, traveling over the roads fo a number of years. Most recently he worked for Black Horse Carriers, Tully. He had many side businesses over the years that kept him busy. He loved the auctions and making a deal. He owned the Red Barn Auction House in Homer in the mid 1980's. Skip had a huge heart for giving. He loved to give to Loaves and Fishes and other local food pantry's. He was an avid sportsfan, always rooting for the underdog. Skip loved to play various sports from basketball, softball, bowling and golf, to shooting trap and skeet. He loved to travel and camp, he loved a good prank a good deal and a good meal. But his greatest joy and happiness came from his children and grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, interment will follow in Tully Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Monday evening from 5 -7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions inHerman's name may be directed to Cortland County Loaves and Fishes or the Cortland County SPCA.
