Robert G. Payne, 72, of Cortland, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at Upstate Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on October 30, 1940 in Cortland to L.E. and Ruth Payne. Bob was an active member of the Blood Disorder Association of the Southern Tier, the Cortland Community Service Club and Baslin Mountain Sportsman Club. He was also the past President and Commissioner of the Frank K. Taylor Hose Company in Cortlandville. Prior to retiring in 2003 from McNeil & Company, he was the proprietor of Payne Brother's Office Supply until 1994. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife in their RV. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Chopper Payne of Cortland, son Brian Payne of Cortland, daughter Jennifer Stickney and husband Michael of Brunswick, ME, sister-in-law Sue Guido and her sons Tim, Jeff, Andy & Tom, brother-in-law Squeak Buggs and wife Cindy and their children Ian, Graham and Hayley, and niece Holly Mead. Bob is predeceased by his father L.E. Payne, mother Ruth Payne, and brother David Payne. Calling hours will be Friday, May 10th, 4-7 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Bob's name is asked to consider the Bleeding Disorder Association of the Southern Tier (BDAST, PO Box 538 Binghamton, NY 13902) or a charity of your choice.
