Obituary of Rita H. Barber

Rita H. Barber, 65, of Cortland passed away April 11, 2014 at Upstate Medical University Hospital. She was born March 22, 1949 the daughter of the late Howard and Alberta Shafer Collins. Rita was a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College. While living in Cortland she worked for over thirty years at Kmart as the soft lines manager. She volunteered at the Cortland Repertory Theatre, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, and was a girl scout leader. Rita also enjoyed traveling to car shows with her late husband making crafts for the events. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Scott) Breese, Debra Barber, Kathleen (Michael Paquin) Barber, grandchildren Alex, Shea, Fiora, and Gwendolyn, her siblings Neil (Marjorie Collins, Connie (Tim) White, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edward "Bruce" Barber. There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Cortland Relay for Life.
