Obituary of Lorene Hope

Lorene "Lori" Hope, 72, of Virgil passed away on Thursday at her home. She was born Nov. 17, 1941 in Schenectady, NY. She has been a longtime resident of the Cortland area. Lorene married her husband Leighton in 1979. She was very proud and honored when Hope Lake was name after her husband. Lorene was an avid skier, enjoyed golfing and traveling abroad with her husband. She was also a horse race enthusiast, and enjoyed her summers at Skaneateles Lake. Lorene was also a member of Cortland Country Club and the Republican Party. Lorene is survived by her brother Richard Veseley, stepsons Steve and Peter Hope, and several close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Leighton, parents, brother John "Jack", stepson Larry Hope. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A calling hour will be held 9-10:45 AM prior. Interment will follow at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
