George G. Ely, 74 of Cortland passed away November 4, 2014, in the Cortland Regional Medical Center. George was born May 22, 1940 in Cortland, the son of the late Lloyd and Charlotte Myers Ely. George had been employed as an Inspection supervisor for Smith Corona retiring after 23 years of service. After retirement he began working for Brown’s Trailer sales in Marathon, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. George is survived by his children Joseph (Cheryl) Ely of Cortland, Patrick Ely of South Carolina, Sally (Andy) Buckhout of South Carolina and Annette (Bill) Hodges of North Carolina. His grandchildren Ashley and Chad Buckhout, Josh and Chase Ely. His brother David Ely of North Carolina, sister Alice May (Elwin) Bronson of South Carolina, Caroline (Earl) Christopher of Indiana, Marylou (Gordon) Brown of North Carolina.
