Obituary of Leland W. Davis

Leland W. Davis 82, of Cortland, NY passed away Saturday January 24, 2015 at Cortland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Leland was born September 7, 1932 in Pharsalia, NY the son of Marlowe and Winifred Travers Davis. Leland and his wife Carolyn operated their family dairy farm on Route 222 in Cortland for many years. Leland enjoyed the great outdoors from the seat of his Jitney. He was an avid hunter of deer, coyote, and woodchucks, he also enjoyed racing snowmobiles and motorcycles. He also enjoyed fishing trips with many of his great friends. His favorite past-time was watching his Syracuse basketball team and is New York Yankee baseball team. Leland is survived by his wife of 62 years Carolyn Bancroft Davis. His children Terry, Gary (Sherry) Davis, Carla (Rick) McCall , Paula (Donald) Shippey, Mark (Cindy) Davis, Sheryl (Ed) Mattoon, 16 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren, his sister, Myrna (Dalton) Flatt and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Leland was predeceased by his brother Leonard and his daughter in law Pam. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Friday January 30 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland with the Reverend Archie Smith presiding.
