Marian Jayne Halpin, 78, of Homer NY, passed away April 20, 2015 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. She was born March 5, 1937 in Leonia NJ, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ernestine Kennedy. Marian graduated from Narrowsburg H.S. in Narrowsburg NY. She then attended Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in New York City. She was a resident of Lake Huntington until marrying. She and her husband then lived in Brentwood NY, working as a medical assistant at various doctor's offices and finally with the Stroud School of Dance. Marian relocated to Homer with her husband about fifteen years ago. While living locally she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, volunteering at St. Mary's Schools for various events including the bazaar where she rented a booth annually. Marian enjoyed sewing, crafts, but most of all spending time with her "Grandchildren". She is survived by her husband of 58 years Richard D. Halpin of Homer, her daughter LaureAnn (Michael) Halpin-Price of Torrington CT, her son Kevin (Cindy) Halpin of Cortland NY, her sister Dena Kennedy of Fuquay-Varina NC, her grandchildren Mark Abrahamson, Caitie Sue Abrahamson, Aisling Marie Halpin, Cassidy Marie Halpin, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Marian was predeceased by her sisters Maureen Mills and Sue Claire Harshbarger. Calling hours are Thursday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Cortland, with Fr. Joseph Zareski presiding. A prayer service will be held Friday 9:30 am at Wright-Beard Funeral Home prior to Mass. Contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 61 North Main St., Cortland NY, 13045.
