Obituary of Michael Wood, Sr.

Michael J. Wood Sr., 58, of Cortland, passed away May 30, 2015 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Michael will be remembered as an avid fisherman, collector and bicyclist. He loved music and was a talented guitar player and vocalist. Michael was frequently seen riding around town on his bike sporting his must-have red bandana. His ready wit and strength in character will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children Michelle Ewald, Michael Wood Jr., Lindsay Crandall, Josh, John, Amanda, Gene "Buddy", and Barry Wood, his sisters Rebecca and Laura Wood, his brothers Bill, Steve, Brian, and Bradley, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved feline companions, Belle, Sassy and Nit Nit. Mike was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Joyce Wood, and his sister Dawn Wood. A calling hour will be held Friday 9-10 am with a funeral service to begin 10 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY. Burial will follow at the East Homer Cemetery.
