Robert Gordon Cook, 77, of Cortland went home to be with the Lord on Father's day June 21, 2015. He was at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 10, 1937, the son of the late Ralph Cook and Gertrude Turner Cook. Bob was a graduate of Cortland High School. He worked at Smith Corona and Tops Market, where he retired in April, 2011. Bob is a member of the Church of the Redeemer and Cortland Bowling Assoc. Hall of Fame. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and gardening. Robert is survived by his wife Patricia, of 50 yrs., his sons John (Debbie) Cook, Joseph Cook, a daughter Kimberly Cook, a sister Wilma Rennels, brother in law Arthur (Patricia) Parker, grandchildren James, Matthew, Michael, Joshua, Robert Cook II, Kennedy Cook, Sydney Seybold, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold, George, and Richard Cook; his sister Freida Culver. He was loved by many but most of all his wife Patricia. They met on a Sunday, married on a Sunday, and he died on a Sunday. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-7 pm at the Church of the Redeemer, 125 Tompkins St. Cortland NY, 13045. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home is serving the family. A funeral service will be held Thursday 1 pm at the Church of the Redeemer. Burial will follow at the Virgil Cemetery.
