Beverly Mary Jane Lathrop On the morning of September 30th, Beverly Mary Jane Lathrop, also known as “Bev” or “Mary Jane” passed away after a courageous 3 year battle with Ovarian Cancer. Bev who was 81 years of age went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family. Bev was born in Greene, New York to Cleo and Ivan Harrison. Bev was the founder of Bev & Co. She started the business as Denim Duds in 1978, it later evolved into Bev’s Fashions and now is known as Bev & Co. Bev’s entrepreneurial spirit and savvy business sense was only a part of who she was. Beverly had a love of life! She was a good friend, a good listener and always gave good advice! Although Bev was a very humble person she also was very competitive – in her younger days her love of horses steered her into rodeo barrel racing! Beverly had a sense of humor and was very witty right up to her last days! She could find something funny in anything! After the love of her family, her next love was her golf and her golfing friends! Bev would spend her winters in Zephryhills, Florida so she could golf year round! She leaves behind many friends in New York and Florida. Bev was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Roland “Sonny” Lathrop in 2007. Her parents and her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Bennett and Catherine Marion also predeceased her. She is survived by her children, Rick (Karen) Lathrop of Cincinnati, Ohio, Renee (Richard) Neiderman of Cortland, New York and Bradley (Mary Jo) Lathrop of Jefferson, Georgia. Her Grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Lathrop, Carolyn (Thomas) Fowler, Taylor (Lenton) Wooley; Aaron (Amber) LeFever, Emily (Chris Demeis) Neiderman, Ashley Neiderman, Blake Lathrop and Tori Lathrop. Bev is also survived by her great grandchildren Crew and Ivy Jane LeFever and Lenton “Vinny” Wooley, and her sister, Ruth Tifft of Binghamton, New York and many nieces and nephews! Bev is also survived by her Bev & Co. Family! The family would like to thank the caring staff of Dr. Mary Cunningham, Syracuse, New York and Hospicare of Ithaca and Cortland for the loving care they provided Beverly in her time of need. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to HopeforHeather.org (ovarian cancer research) or Hospicare & Palliative Care Services, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, New York 14850. At Beverly’s request there will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 6 pm at the Cortland Country Club.
