Charles F. "Jr." Beers, Jr., 84, of McGraw passed away January 30, 2016 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center with family by his side. He was born December 13, 1931 in McGraw. Jr. was a lifelong resident of McGraw, graduating from McGraw High School in 1949. In 1951 he married Anita Rulison and were married for 64 yrs. In 1952 he was drafted to the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served from 1952 - 1954 until he was honorably discharged. While serving he was selected to attend signal school for the Army, which enabled him to move into meteorology. While being stationed in Korea he was instrumental in predicting forecasts. Upon his return from Korea, Jr. was employed for Cortland Bulk, driving milk trucks, Brockway Motor's, Cortland Hospital, and most recently ETL Testing Labs where he retired from. Jr. was a member of the McGraw Methodist Church and McGraw American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed watching old movies and working on cars. His greatest passion was being with his family. They will cherish his memory as loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jr. is survived by his wife Anita Beers, his sons Michael (Lisa) Beers, Mark (Jaimie) Beers, his daughter Tracy (Bradley) Preston, his grandchildren Brandi, Scott (Tasia), Nicholas, Frankie, Tasha (Jason), Chase (LauraLee), Alexandra (Mark), Lindsay (Scott), Thomas, Danielle, and Deidre, along with ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Sally Welch Beers Sr., and his sister Beverly Kodya. A calling hour will be held Saturday 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home of Cortland with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the McGraw Cemetery.
