Obituary of Leatha I. Smith

Leatha I. Smith, 95, of Cortland passed away February 1, 2016 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. She was born September 28, 1920 in Binghamton NY, daughter of the late Charles and Hyla Tobias Oles. Leatha had been employed with Smith Corona Corp. until her retirement. She had been a member of the Groton City United Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting. She is survived by her sons Raymond D. Smith Sr. of Cortland, Leon G. Smith of Sempronius, her daughters Linda Wakula of Newfield, Coretta Smith of Cortland, her sister Edith Caughey of Freeville, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband DeForest Smith, her sisters Elizabeth Oles and Lettie Oles Williams. At Leatha's request a graveside service at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY, will be announced in the spring. Contributions may be made to the Cortland SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland NY, 13045.
