Beatrice A. Allen, 90, of Cortland passed away on May 1, 2016, at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born on June 2, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Allen Crandall. Beatrice is survived by her two daughters, Bonalyn Dubisz, Rebecca (Peter) Muehlbauer, and endearing niece, Neva Ryan. Beatrice is also blessed with five grandchildren: Tina Bonyak, Michael (Stacy) Bonyak, Catherine Bonyak, Edward (Lisa) Dubisz, Rebecca (John) Piatko and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Paul (Dorothy) Crandall. Her husband, Ralph D. Allen, son, Dennis W. Allen, and grandson Quintan Boyce, twin grandchildren, Timothy and Courtney, two brothers and three sisters, predeceased her. To her family she was known as our cherished “Koo-Koo,” a name given to her by her grandchildren. Beatrice was a unit secretary at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Previously, she worked as the private secretary for J.M. Murray at Cortland Line Company. Beatrice was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting and Bingo. Beatrice’s greatest love was spending time with her family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. A calling hour will be 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Homer, NY.
