Ryan R. Russell, 27, of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly May 15, 2016. He was born September 10, 1988 in Cortland, NY. Ryan was raised and educated in McGraw. He attended and graduated from McGraw High School in 2007. While in high school he played basketball and soccer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors. His favorite sports teams were the NY Rangers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan was currently employed at Gutchess Lumber. His family loved him more than anything and will cherish his memory for his great sense of humor and his big heart. He is survived by his parents Kevin and Cynthia Russell, his brother Brent (Kristin) Russell, his nephew Logan Russell who he adored, paternal grandparents Robert and Shirley Russell, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friend Mallory Cobb. Ryan is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Walter and Romaine Brown. Calling hours will be Friday evening 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A memorial service will be Saturday 1 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Cortland County SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland NY, 13045.
