Jill A. Porter, 70, of 7 Cowance St., Cortland passed away July 21, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Porter was born April 28, 1946 in Cortland the daughter of the late Jack M. and Barbara J. Molineaux Mitchell. Mrs. Porter was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from the Ithaca School of Practical Nursing as an LPN , then went on to graduate from TC3 as an RN and later continued her education at the Syracuse University School of Nursing and was a proud member of the honor society . She retired in 2011 from Cortland Regional Medical Center after 39 years of nursing. She was a member of the Retired Nurses Club and enjoyed gardening and needlepoint in her spare time. Mrs. Porter is survived by her husband of 50 years Gerald Porter, her two daughters; Melissa (Terry Smith) Porter of Cortland and Khette (Matt) Faberzak of Cortland. One brother Jere (Rebecca) Mitchell in Missouri and her sister Jennie (John) Monroe in California. Her grandchildren; Jennifer and Joseph Frost and Kelsey (Eli) Kabat, Erika Faberzak and Alyssa (Brad) Clark. Great grandchildren Connor Ford, Evan and Brinley Smith. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Mitchell A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Grace and Holy Spirit Church, 13 Court St., Cortland. Friends are invited to call 10:00-11:00 prior to the memorial at the church. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland at a later date.
