Obituary of Gerald F. Rawson

Gerald F. Rawson, 89, of formerly of Groton passed away August 12, 2016 at his home in Genoa. He was born April 17, 1927 in Cortland NY, the son of the late Edward and Inez Nodine Rawson. Gerald was raised and educated locally. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII with the First Infantry Sixteenth Division in the European Theatre. He had been employed by R.H. Miller Corp. retiring in the early 1980's. Gerald was a member of the Groton American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and raising beagles. He is survived by his daughter Alberta Thompson, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, his niece Caroline Fregoe, his nephew Roger (Jane) Rawson, and cousins. Gerald was predeceased by his wife Lauretta of 60 yrs in 2012, his son Frank T. Clark, his daughters Pauline Skillman and Rosezella Smith. A calling hour will be held Thursday 10-11 am with a funeral service to begin 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
