Obituary of Donald T. Root

Donald Theodore Root, 74, of Marathon, New York, died August 18, 2016 at his Marathon residence. Mr. Root was born August 30, 1941, in Cortland, New York to Theodore and Genevee (Jacquins) Root and was the oldest of 6 children. He attended Cortland High School, NY. Donald worked as a produce manager for Grand Union, Brockway Trucking, and retired from Pall Trinity. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bowling, golfing, and cooking. He enjoyed his family and many trips to St. Lawrence River. He is survived by his wife Joan (Young) Root, his children and their spouses- Michael (Jodi) Root, David (Carrie) Root, Michelle (Aric) Ryan, twelve grandchildren, and his beloved dog Sarah. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 2-4 at the Marathon Baptist Church. Funeral will follow. Arrangements are with Wright-beard Funeral Home.
