Obituary of Bertha Burns

Bertha Teeter Burns, 69 of Homer passed away on October 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Syracuse, she was born on July 14, 1947, a daughter of the late William and Katherine Shay Kendall. Bertha was employed as a book keeper for H&R Block before starting her own to do book keeping business. She also tended bar at several local bars and restaurants. Bertha was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Cortland American Legion. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Bertha is survived by her loving husband, William ‘Bill’ Burns Homer; one son, Patrick and Sara Teeter, McGraw; one daughter Amy and Tj Forbes, Jr., Weedsport; three grandchildren, Justin, Zachery, Ian, and three great grandchildren, Landon, Chase, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 16 from 12:00 PM to 2:00PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 17 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland.
