Charles “Mickey” Cooper, 78, of Lake Como Rd., passed away November 16, 2016 at home with family by his side. He was born January 30, 1938 in Cortland the son of the late Robert and Elaine White Cooper. Mickey was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Virgil High School. He then served with the U.S. Navy for the next twenty two years. Following his service to his country he took employment with AT &T where he retired from. Mickey was a member of the Lincklaen Community Church and practiced Christian meditation. He was a scientist at heart who enjoyed many personal projects. He was a past member of the Dryden VFW. In his spare time he made Native American flutes, loving Native American Culture, and was an avid bow hunter along with caring for his beagles. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Fuller Cooper, his daughter Amy Cooper-Phy, his son Mitchell (Diana) Cooper, his grandchildren Nicholas, Daisy, Ricky, and Jolene, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Saturday 3:00-4:30pm with a funeral service to begin 4:30 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045 with Pastor Will Gallerani presiding. Private burial will be at the Cortland Rural Cemetery at a later time. Reception will be held at the Port Watson Mini Conference Center.
