Owena Maynard 103, of Cortland, passed away December 14, 2016 in Cortland Regional Medical Center. Owena was born September 2, 1913 in Sidney, NY the daughter of the late LaVern and Charlotte Shepard Chase. Owena had served as cook for the NYS Police Troop C Headquarters in Sidney for 4 years She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed camping and fishing and Loved to Bake and make candy. Owena is survived by her grandchildren Ronald Jeffery Ward of Lancaster, NY, Louann Joy (Timothy) Roberts of Binghamton,, Gregory Lynn (Jassely) Ward of Laurens, Douglas Ward of Homer, Karen (David) Smith of Preble, Shawn (Jane) Ward of Scott, Great Grandchildren Brian Jeffery Curtis, Jason Michael Curtis, Ashley June Ward, Merton David Smith, Crystal Janet Smith, Courtney Ward, Jeremiah “Jeremy” Ward, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents Owena was predeceased by her husband Everett Maynard, sons Ronald L Ward and William Ward Jr. , grandchildren Scott and Janet Ward, great grandson Brandon Ward, Brothers Ralph and Leon Chase, Sister Pauline Cole. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Friends are invited to call from 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm prior to the service.
