Eva Vecchio Southworth, 79, formerly of Cortland NY, passed away January 7, 2017 in St. Petersburgh Fla, where she and her husband spent winters. She was born January 17, 1937 in Cortland the daughter of the late Donato and Emilia Palazzo. Eva was raised and educated in Cortland graduating from Cortland High School in 1955. Over her working career, she had been employed with Fitz and Dorset Law Office, Ed Purser Esq., secretary to the Vice Principal at Cortland High School and the McGraw Senior Center. Eva was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church, member of the Cortland Garden Club, active with the Ladies of Castle Forte Italy, the wives of past state presidents of the NY Elks Association, very active in PTA along with serving as room mother. Her family will cherish her memory as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whom they will miss dearly. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ernest Southworth, her son Michael (Donna) Southworth, her daughters; Luann (Eric) Skeval, Julie (Angelo) Costantini, Kristine (Michael) Hunt, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, dear in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eva was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Cheryl Southworth Dann, her Siblings Alex and Anthony Vecchio and Mary Coviello. Calling Hours will be held Friday 3-7pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, NY 13045. A Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Eva's life will be held Saturday 9am at St. Mary's Church, Cortland. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
