Dora Rowley Keyes Seltzer, 98, of the Summit Elder Lodge at Moravia passed away at Cortland Regional Medical Center on Feb. 5 after a brief illness. Dora was born on December 15, 1918 in Burnside PA along with her identical twin sister Nora. She married Harold L. Keyes on December 10, 1939. Together they raised three children. Harold Keyes died in 1964. Years ago she was employed at SUNY Cortland, she later tried a new career path and became a fashion manager at Montgomery Wards until her retirement. In January 1986 she married Harold Seltzer and moved to Palm Springs CA, where she wrote her book "A glimpse of Carpenter Hill". She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons Ney (Carol) Keyes of Yucca Valley CA, Harold (Sara) Keyes of Baldwyn Miss., her daughter Phyllis (Karl) Kirk of Cortland, her sister Mildred Brown of Mason OH, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dora was predeceased by her husbands Harold Keyes and Harold Seltzer, an infant sister Nora Rowley, sisters Dorothy Halme, Ruth Sweetland and Nellie Hunt. A calling hour will be Thursday 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045 with Rev. Steven Barton presiding. Private burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bible Baptist Church, designated Food Pantry, 15 West Rd., Cortland NY, 13045.
