Claudia Rosa Olson, 64, of Cortland passed away February 17, 2017 with family by her side at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre PA. She was born February 20, 1952 in Elmira NY, the daughter of the late Walter and Claudia Hernandez Bailey. Claudia was raised and educated in Elmira, graduated from Elmira College with her bachelor's degree. She came to Cortland after marrying. While living in Cortland she raised and cared for her family. She worked as a teacher's assistant for Parker School for eighteen years. Claudia enjoyed crossword puzzles, movies, travelling, and hiking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 32 yrs. Richard Olson, her daughters Angie (Doug) Rodgers, Jennifer (John) Hart,her son Jeffrey (Maya) Olson, her grandchildren Brenna, Quinlan, Taylor, and Dylan, her brothers Paul Bailey, Carlos (Marcia) Mejia, her sister Roxanne (Dave) Merriam, nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A memorial service will be held Thursday 10 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home.
