Obituary of Margaret E. Margison

Margaret Kaemmerlen Margison, age 100, a resident of McHarrie Life Senior Community in Baldwinsville, NY and formerly of Cortland, NY, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2017. She was born in the Village of Haverstraw, NY, attended public schools in Newburgh, NY, and graduated from SUNY New Paltz. She was a teacher in the Montgomery and Lake Mahopac School Systems where she met Richard L. Margison. They were a loving married couple for 73 wonderful years. Her husband, Richard, daughter, Nancy Cleveland, and son in law Robert Jennings preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Richard (Lynn), a daughter Ellen Jennings, a son- in- law Thomas (Marie) Cleveland and a niece Ruth (James) Queen; grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer) Cleveland, Scott Cleveland, Ramsey (Lauren) Margison, Blake (Jennifer) Margison, Allison Jennings and Sarah Jennings; and great grandchildren Robert, Brendan, Emily and Abby Cleveland and Gracie and Benjamin Margison. During her residency in Cortland she was a member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at the United Presbyterian Church, a member of Comwolie and Ladies Literary Club and President of the Cortland Y.W.C.A. She also served on the board of the Cortland Hospital and the 1890 House. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a future time.
