Harold B. Gibbs, 61, of Cortland, joined his heavenly family, May 25, 2017 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born on November 9, 1955 in Cortland, the son of the late Dr. Donald and Sallie (Crawford) Gibbs . Harold attended Union Springs Academy, then graduated from Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, PA. He also attended Andrews University and Tompkins Cortland Community College to study business. Harold was proprietor of Lakeside Gas and Grocery in Little York where he and his family lived for many years. He pastored Cortland Christian Fellowship for ten years, then proudly opened Hannah's Flowers. He is survived by his wife-Soul Mate Donna (Wiedemann) Gibbs; son Joseph Gibbs; daughters Jillian (Nathan) Ray, Abigail (Savannah) Gibbs, Hannah (Ryan) Cochran; brothers Dr. Thomas (Joe Ann) Gibbs, Jonathon (Jennifer) Gibbs, George (Jocelyn) Gibbs, Dwane (Charlotte) Holmes; sisters Laura Lee (Jack) Ferneyhough , Margaret (Woody) Whidden, Ann (Richard) Alway, Frances (David) Faehner and Mary Gibbs; his grandchildren, Selah, Luciana, Hazel, Rowan, and Parker, as well as several dear nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Donald Gibbs and step Mother Margaret Gibbs. Harold Gibbs was devoted to his family and friends. He especially loved and doted on his grandchildren. He had a passion for helping others and an understanding of people's needs, which he always put before his own. He enjoyed his gardens and flower shop and all the fellowship he shared with his many patrons/friends. His most important goals were to be with his family, enjoying each moment they were together. He treasured his time spent at Hannah's Flowers. Calling hours will be held Tuesday May 30 , 2017 from 3 to 4:30pm at the First United Methodist Church, Rt. 222, Cortland NY, 13045, with a memorial service to begin 4:40pm at the church. In Harold's own words: "You know they say, you can do anything for a day. This living in mercy, flowing with grace seems fairytale-ish. Just for today. Just for today I'm going to embrace God's mercy. Just for today I'm going to have an attitude of kindness" In honor of his brother Donny, contributions may be made to J.M. Murray Center Inc.
