John S. Nadolski, 66, of Cortland, NY, passed away from cancer on July 19, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 22, 1951, the son of Stanley T. and Lora M. Nadolski. John grew up in Cortland and was a graduate of Cortland High School. He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, where he played football, and then transferred to Syracuse University. He was the President and CEO of Marietta Packaging Company, and served on a number of local boards including the JM Murray Center and the Cortland Savings Bank. Until recently he was also a small business counselor with SCORE. For much of his life, in the winter, John was often found on the slopes at Greek Peak, first as an instructor and later chasing his children down the hill. He served as President of the Greek Peak Ski Club, and was a race official for NYSSRA and USSA competitions. Come summer, John spent as much time as possible at his cottage in Clayton, NY, fishing the St. Lawrence River with his family and friends. John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah Stannard Nadolski; son, Nicholas J. (Ashley Windham) of Conway, AR; daughter, Lora A. (Aaron Hanson) of Truckee, CA; brothers, Roger M. (Judy) of Binghamton and Thomas L. (Jane) of Webster; brother-in-law, Jeffery B. Stannard of Fayetteville; and a niece and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday 3-6 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cortland Memorial Foundation in recognition of the compassionate care John received from the staff at Cortland Regional Medical Center over the past two years.
