Obituary of John Talbot

John Raymond Talbot 78 of Cortland, NY passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at CRMC on 11/13/2017 with his loving family around him.

Born April 24, 1939 in Solon, he was the son of the late Clifford Talbot and Sarah Talbot Sharp.

His love for horses was a main focus of who he was. He would spend several hours trail riding through the woods, camping and sitting by the fire pit at night. He went all over NYS enjoying their facilities. He took extreme pleasure in exhibiting his custom built wagons and buggies, that he constructed himself, along with several different teams of ponies he trained and drove. He exhibited them in local parades and fairs. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling, college football and the N.Y. Giants also playing cards with his friends.  He was an independent contractor and business owner for 20+ years (J & D Carpentry), he also owned & ran Grand pa T’s pony ride. He was one of the founding members of “Dick’s Bikers Club” and served as president. He was presented with a plaque that was passed down to each successor.

John is survived by his best friend and wife of 57 years Daphine Musenga Talbot; his sons:  Jon “Cowboy” Talbot (Mary), Gary Talbot (Jan);  Grandchildren: Thomas John “TJ” Talbot, Kellie “Witch Hazel” Talbot (Justin);  Great Grandchildren: Troy Talbot, Taylen Talbot, Thachary Talbot, Khloey Talbot, Wyatt Talbot;  Siblings:  Sandra Carroll (Tom Cavanaugh), Alfred Talbot, Sharon Marshall (Tim), Tim Allen, Tom Allen (Johann), Fran Horner (Jack).

He was predeceased by his sibling James “Jim” Sherman.

Also predeceased by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

As was his desire, there will be no calling hours or service of burial.  There will be a celebration of John’s life at Cortlanes Bowling Alley on Dec 16, 2017 from 1 - till?
