Harley R. DeShane, 77 of Preble passed away on February 4, 2018 at SUNY Upstate. He was born September 20, 1940 in Syracuse, NY a son of the late William and Ina Larrabee DeShane. Harley was employed by Onondaga County as a computer programmer. He served his country with the United States Air Force from 1966-1986. Harley was a very active member of the Mason's, he belonged to the Blue Lodge, Homer Lodge 352, Cortlandville 470, past member of Royal Arch, Washington Chapter 29, Council, Cayuga Council 90 and was Most Illustrious Grand Master from 2014-2015, Commandery, Cortlandville Commandery 500, Grand Representative of Louisiana 1995-present. Harley was also a member of the Christian Conclave and Red Cross of Constantine, AAS, Valley of Syracuse, Knights of York Cross of Honor, and Past Exalted Ruler of Homer Elks 2506. Harley is survived by his wife, Carol DeShane, Preble, one son, Robert DeShane, Florida, two daughters, Suzanne (David) Draper, New Hampshire, Kimberly (Phil) Thomas, Utah, one brother, William (Dixie) DeShane, Texas , one sister, Shirley (Wes) Collins, Nevada, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Harley was predeceased by a step son, Stephen Peacock, and a sister, Barbara DeShane. Calling hours will be held 3:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY with a Masonic Service to follow at 4:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Brotherhood Fund, c/o Rusty Perkins, Homer Masonic Lodge, 25 S. Main St, Homer, NY 13077.
