Muncey William Bill Dickinson, 94, of 12 Copeland Avenue, Cortland, NY, passed away November 21, 2012 in Cortland.
Mr. Dickinson was born April 10, 1918 in Cortland, NY son of the late Samuel S. and Pauline Muncey Dickinson. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Masons and the Elks. Bill graduated from Cortland High School, Class of 1938.
Bill served with the United States Marine during WW II participating in the invasion of Guadalcanal and Okinawa.
Mr. Dickinson was employed by the JM McDonald Co. stores in Colorado and Kansas, a buyer in the general offices in Nebraska and manager of the New York City buying office, retiring in 1973. He and his wife then spent winters in Arizona and Florida until moving back to Cortland in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, his children William of Cliffside Park, NJ, Stephanie (Philip) Dunlap of Mahwah, N.J., John (Leah) Dickinson of Haverstraw, N.Y., grandson Corey Dickinson, granddaughter, Kelsey Dickinson, sister Justine Domineske, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday 2:00 €“ 5:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. Funeral service and Interment in the Cortland Rural Cemetery will be private and held at a later date.
