Kenneth Chip S. Davenport Jr., 64, of Cortland passed away on July 1, 2013 at the Geneva General Hospital. Kenneth was born November 2, 1948 to the late Kenneth and Marguerite Addy Davenport Sr.
Mr. Davenport was a life long resident of the Cortland area. He graduated from Homer High School in 1967 then went on to graduate from Broome Tech. and then enlisted in the United States Navy serving on the nuclear submarine U.S.S Hammerhead and proudly served his country for 6 years. Following his time in the service he worked for Pall Trinity for 37 years and was looking forward to retirement in January. Chip was active in the Bruce Brown Golf league at Walden Oaks, enjoyed camping, NASCAR, being in his woods, spending time at Thunder Mountain watching the races, but more than anything he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Deborah Breed of 38 years, daughters; Jeri(Barry) Coningsby of Moravia, Jill (Roger Abbott) Davenport of Moravia, grandchildren; Alexcis, Nolan, Lucy, sisters; Deborah Davenport of Groton, Bobette (Gary) Lansdowne of Lake Como, a special Aunt Arleen Vorhis of Groton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday July 5 from 10 €“ 12 PM with a service at noon at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY. A burial with military honors will follow at Tully Cemetery.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Ken's passing. He was a great friend and co-worker and he always had a wonderful sense of humor.We shared many laughs together and I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May God Bless Charley Parks

I was very sad when I heard that Chip had passed away. My deepest sympathy to his family, sisters Debbie and Bobette, and to his relatives. Although I rarely saw Chip after our teenage years, we had great times together and I'll never forget him and what a kind, good natured, true friend he was! Greg DeMond
