Obituary of Delores M. Bays

Delores M. Bays, 92, of Virgil, NY, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Fl. Born on March 28, 1932, in Moosic, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Josephine Lease. Delores married her high school sweetheart, John M.Bays on March 31, 1951. She devoted many years to managing a dairy farm alongside her husband. Delores also retired from a rewarding career at Highgate Nursing home in Cortland. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, John M. Bays. Together, they built a life known for love, hard work, and family. Delores was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Victoria (Terry) Zirbel, and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren: Chad (Angela) Zirbel, Sean (Heather) Zirbel, and Torrie (Christopher) Godwin. She held a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren: Danimaree Stoughtenger, Nicholas Zirbel, Wyatt Lewis, Jessie Zirbel, Joseph Godwin, Anthony Godwin, Kaylee Zirbel, Carli Zirbel, and her great-great-grandson, Logan Lizarralde. Delores is also survived by her dear aunt, Mary Keegan. Her legacy of love and dedication will forever be cherished by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 12 PM, April 28 at Virgil Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Delores' name.
