Ardis Jane Willcox of Homer NY passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025. She was born in Cortland NY on August 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Emil and Leone (Smith) Tallmadge. Ardis was a graduate of Cortland High School, Stephens College in Columbia MO and Florida Southern College. She was devoted to her late husband Newell, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren as her fishing and boating companions at the cottage on the St Lawrence River and last but not least her Golden retrievers. She was a member of the Clayton Antique Museum, Clayton and Cortland Historical Museums, Clayton Yacht Club, Cortland Country Club and the United Presbyterian Church. Ardis participated in the family tire business, Willcox Service & Tire for 45 years with her husband Newell and sons and they both retired in 2009. They loved to travel to Europe and British Columbia and spent summers at their cottage in Clayton Ny. Ardis is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Heidi), Stephen (Suzanne), grandsons, Christopher, Kevin (Joanne), Matthew (Kaelyn), Brenden (Jessica), Tyler (Andrea) and Brett. Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephew and a special sister-in-law Cynthia Willcox Stubbs. Loved ones that cleared the heavenly path for Ardis are Newell, passing in 2017 and son Mark in 1998. She will be laid to rest at Cortland Rural Cemetery with Newell, her lifelong love and husband of 65 years who always introduced Ardis as his bride. In accordance with her wishes no services will be held and a private service for family and friends will be held this summer at the River. Expressions of sympathy may be directed at the Cortland Rural Cemetery or to Ithaca Hospice.
