
Obituary of Arthur Bushnell

Arthur "Art" Bushnell, 80 of Cortland NY, passed away February 3, 2025 with family by his side. He was born August 11, 1944 in Cortland the son of the late Lyman and Bernice Henry Bushnell.
Art was raised and educated locally. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a communication specialist in the Infantry Division and was honorably discharged. Over the years Art was employed with Planck Motors, Chris Craft Boats and Newcomb Ford. His memberships included the Cortland Eagle's, VFW, where he served as trustee for sixteen years, American Legion, DAV, and Moose Club. He took pride in owning and maintaining his vehicles especially his 2002 Ford Mustang convertible.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia "Pete" Bushnell his sons James "Jim" (Kelly) Bushnell, BJ (Helen Valenti) Bushnell, his grandchildren Mike & Kyle Harvey, Jaret Bushnell, Destiny Bushnell, and Brock Bushnell, his siblings Jesse (Sharon) Bushnell, Ronald "Pete" Bushnell, Stanley "Marty" Bushnell, Robert "Bob" Bushnell, Kathleen Robbins, Debbie Rangcapan & Anna Buck.
In addition, he is survived by brother-in-laws Edward Kowalski, Butch Collins, Edward (Mary) Wilcox, Larry (Lindy) Wilcox & Sister-in-laws Ginny Wilcox, Carol Mosch, Linda (Tom) Quinlan, Denise Bushnell, numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. And lastly, his little fur buddy Teddy.
In addition, he is predeceased by Brother Richard "Dick" Bushnell, Sisters Agnes "Aggie" Metcalf and Ardelia Kowalski. Sister-in-laws Pat Bushnell, Charlene Bushnell, Judy Bushnell and Patti Collins. Brother-in-laws Burt Buck, Dutch Metcalf, Leon Rounds, Sr, Steve Robbins, Tom "Corky" Mosch and Maynard "Butch" Wilcox.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to the VA Oncology Team, Syracuse, NY and Ideal Nursing Home, Endicott, NY for all the special care they provided.
Calling hours will be Saturday February 8, 2025 10-11:45 am with a funeral service to begin 12 noon at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Spring burial will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospicare or American Cancer Society.
