Obituary of Betty Petrella

Betty Petrella, 97, of Cortland, passed away on February 9, 2025 at the Groton Community Health Center. She was born on February 28, 1927 in Augusta, GA, to her parents the late Oliver Allgood and Reba Blackstone. Betty made her career working at the Smith Corona Manufacturing Corp, where she worked as a line supervisor. She was an excellent artist and painter. Betty liked to knit and crochet, making various handmade items and clothing for family and friends. In the spring and summer months, Betty looked forward to tending to her flower garden. A member of the Weight Watchers International Club, Betty went on to teach classes to the other members and participants. Betty is survived by her loving children Robert Petrella and Patti Riotto; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband John Petrella in 2011 and her son John Petrella Jr. in 2020. Funeral services will be held privately for the immediate family.
