Obituary James E. Roberts, of Cortland, 2/12/25 Born in Wilkes Barre, PA on 12/13/30 to Ruth and James Roberts, Sr, he was the oldest of 6 brothers: Donald, Gerald, Richard, Kenneth and Robert, all deceased. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Tonia (Transue) Roberts, daughter Valerie Roberts of Panama and son Todd Roberts (Tina) of Gilbert, AZ. He worked for the Johnson City Water Dept starting in 1949 and was Superintendent 1973-76. He was Superintendent of the Cortland City Water Dept 1977-91. He was proud of his service in the Navy as an aviation electrician in the Gladiators aircraft carrier fighter squadron in Korea 1951-54. He loved the outdoors, built a cottage on White Birch Lake in Windsor, and loved riding his lawn tractor. He and his wife spent many happy hours traveling to all 50 states in their motor home, and on the golf course at Stonehedges Golf Course. Services will be private.
