Andrew F. Brush
August 13, 1950 - February 20, 2025
Sadly, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, and best friend Andrew F. Brush (Andy) passed away on Thursday, February 20, much too soon, at the age of 74. He was born in Syracuse, NY on August 13, 1950 to Joseph and Irene (Andrews) Brush and grew up on the northside of Syracuse. He graduated from Henninger High School in 1968 and earned a master's degree in accounting from Syracuse University. He worked at the Rockwell factory in Syracuse, then settled in Cortland where he worked at Wilson Sporting Goods and Rubbermaid before retiring as Director of Administrative Services from the Wendy’s franchise office in 2018. He was an active member of his community, organizing a Wednesday night golf league at Maple Hill Golf Club, serving as a Village of Homer trustee, and serving as chairman of the Brockway Foundation. Andy was always there for his family and siblings. He was our rock. He will always be remembered for his love for family, his generous heart, and his great sense of humor. He loved SU sports, the NY Giants, the Yankees, the Rolling Stones, golf, and a good cigar and a glass of scotch.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Irene, and infant son, Joseph Andrew Brush. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Teresa; son Robert (Lesley) Brush; daughter Catherine (James) Morrison; granddaughter Fiona; sisters Sharon Brush, Linda Lizzio, and Mary (Frank) Brush; brothers Frederick, William (Beth), Joseph Jr. (Sue), Robert, Harold (Brenda), Peter (Ann), and Edward (Michelle); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, March 3, 4-7 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church in Cortland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
