Obituary of Permelia M. Hathaway

Permelia (Peggy) M. Hathaway, 84 of Dryden, passed away on February 20, 2025 at the Cayuga Medical Center. She was born on August 4, 1940 in Groton, to her parents the late Samuel Hilsinger and Isabelle Ayers. Permelia made her career as a Line Operator, for the Smith Corona Manufacturing Corporation. She was an avid bird watcher and especially loved seeing cardinals and hummingbirds. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing and baking. Permelia looked forward to watching the television show Mountain Men, as well as various game shows, especially the Price is Right. She is survived by her loving family, her children Reginald (April) Hathaway, Larry (Laura) Hathaway, and Brian (Jacquelyn) Hathaway; her grandchildren Joshua (Alyssa) Hathaway, Kelly (Brian) Tobin, Heather (Harry) Rorick, Kimmy (Ryan) Rivers, Brandon (Tonya Yerian) Hathaway, Benjamin (Olivia) Hathaway, Matthew Hathaway, Ashley (Ryan) Briggs, Shannon (Damone) Boyd, Kristina Vargas, Amanda Nolan, Dustin (Brande) Ward, Jason Ward, Jerica Harrington, and Robert Robbins; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws Ray (Shirley) Hathaway, Pat (Ed) Deleski, and brother-in-law Pete Neff. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 2012 by her beloved husband of 55 years, Reginald A Hathaway; as well as several brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. from 10 to 12pm.
