MARIE T. GALLUCCI, 96, passed away on February 18, 2025, at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, with her loving daughter by her side. Marie was born in Syracuse, NY, to Frank and Rose Riccardo. The youngest of six children, she was raised in a loving family. She was baptized/confirmed in Our Lady of Pompei Catholic Church. Marie graduated from North High School as Salutatorian. She also worked part-time while attending high school. Marie loved to travel, going to Kansas City. She later moved to Queens, NY, where she worked for American Airlines as a telephone operator. Marie returned to Syracuse, where she met Angelo Gallucci. They were married in 1954, built a home in Cortland, NY, and had three children. Their marriage lasted for over 57 years, until Angelo passed away. Marie was a joyful homemaker for many years, and took excellent care of her children. In 1972, she went to work at the Cortland Jr/Sr. High School, as a teacher's aide, for 22 years. Marie was a fun loving, compassionate and smart woman, who lived her Catholic faith throughout her life. She was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, and volunteered at many church functions. Marie was a member of Catholic Daughters, and attended mass regularly. She also volunteered as a grade mother, and hosted a sewing club. She enjoyed reading as well. Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who always welcomed everyone into her home with generosity and a smile for all she knew. Marie became a caregiver to her husband Angelo for the last 24 years of his life. Marie's love, dedication, strong work ethic, and self-sacrifices for her spouse, her children, her family, and in-laws were felt by all. Marie was an excellent cook and baker, and welcomed many throughout her life with home cooked meals and home-made baked goods. She was a loyal and faithful friend, a light, who was always there to listen, to provide advice and comfort to all. Marie will be greatly missed. Marie is survived by her children Adam (Sally) Gallucci, Rose Gallucci, and Marie Churey, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
