Harold Elwin Chamberlain, Jr.
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Harold Elwin Chamberlain, Jr. announces his passing on March 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Harold was born on August 1, 1937, in Endicott, NY, to Harold E. and Gladys (Smith) Chamberlain.
Harold worked for Goddard roofing as a roofer and worked until he was 72 years old and forced to retire. He had a great work ethic and enjoyed driving around pointing out the roofs he replaced or worked on. Harold served his country with the United States Army from 1956-1958.
Harold lived a full and meaningful life, full of love, laughter, and passion. He was an outgoing person who enjoyed spending time with his family, making lasting memories with them. He had a special fondness for NASCAR, with a deep admiration for his favorite driver, Richard Petty, and was known to be an expert on everything related to his favorite driver. Harold also loved watching wrestling, and his passion for gardening, especially planting apple trees, brought him immense joy.
Harold is survived by his loving children, Holly E. Uzailko, Harold E. (Karen) Chamberlain, III, Dorothy (Mark) Parkin, George (Vickie) Chamberlain, Gladys (Shawn) Larson, and Barbara (Walter) Thomas. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, William "Bill" (Pat) Chamberlain and Gladys DeMarco "Ellie", along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild on the way, and several nieces and nephews all of whom he held dear.
Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Shirley Chamberlain, as well as his children Linda McKinney and Carl Chamberlain. He was also preceded in death by his siblings George H. Chamberlain, Gail Harvey, and Jean Hillman, and his grandson, Thomas Max Uzailko Jr., and great-grandson, Maverick R.T. Raymond.
Harold will be remembered for his warm heart, his zest for life, and his strong connection with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a love for the simple joys in life.
Calling hours will be 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM Friday, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Rest in peace, Harold. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
