
Obituary of Ina Bean

Ina Burt Bean's 95 year journey through life ended peacefully March 13, 2025. Ina was born March 1st,
1930 in Blodgett Mills to Blanche McLean Burt and Ernest Watts Burt. Her brother Marion Frank (Bud) Burt married Edwina M. Moore and moved to Ohio, they had Claudia (John) Green, Russell (d) and Martin (d).
Ina's family moved to McGraw and opened 'The Village Coffee Shop' on Main Street during the
depression, she attended McGraw school and met her future husband William E. Bean. Ina and Bill graduated from Cornell and were married in 1952, they moved onto the Bean family farm, McGraw. Ina ran the McGraw School cafeteria then left to raise Thomas E. Bean and Susan Blanche Bean. Ina and Bill had a successful dairy farm for 45 years. Ina went back to college after her kids started school. She taught first grade at Parker School for about
20 years; she treasured her time at Parker both for the youngsters she introduced to learning and for the
friends she worked with. She was proud when happy parents would thank her "you taught my child how t read". Ina's mother Blanche was a teacher, Ina's daughter Sue and granddaughter Jackie followed her
footsteps as educators. Ina retired from Parker, then volunteered at Parker as a counselor, at Cortland County Historical Society and at Guthrie Cortland Hospital as outpatient liaison.
Ina was predeceased by her daughter Susan Bean (Don) Cobb, her husband Bill, her brother Frank
(Bud) Burt, his wife Winnie, two of their children and all of Bill Bean's siblings – Robert (Esther) Bean, James (Myrtie) Bean, Albert (Barb) Stupke, Mert Jr. (Barb) Bean, Allan (Mary Ann) Bean.
Ina is survived by her son Tom, her son-in-law Don Cobb, her granddaughter Jackie Cobb (Trevor) Stapp
of Kansas, Trevor Stapp, Jackie and Trevor's son Miles Wm. Stapp, Claudia & John Green of Ohio and many Bean nieces and nephews.
