Obituary of Thelma Powers

Thelma Marguerite Dodge Powers, 103, passed away March 26, 2025 with family by her side. Thelma was born March 10, 1922 in Cortlandville NY. She lived most of her life in Blodgett Mills area. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Blodgett mills then went on to graduate from Cortland High School in 1940. She attended the Blodgett Mills Church and was employed by Cortland Line and Smith Corona. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, church friends and friends. Thelma also enjoyed reading, embroidery, cook outs, receiving phone calls from anyone, having visitors and spending time with her family, sending cards and receiving cards for all occasions. She is survived by her daughter in law Donna Dodge of Marathon NY, step daughter Susan Powers of Cortland, step daughter Marsha (Victor) Havran of Cortland, step daughter in law Charlene Powers of Auburn NY, step daughter in law Sharon Powers of Depew NY, step son in law Jim Nadge of Homer NY, 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 31 great great grandchildren, 5 great great great grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren, 35 step great grandchildren, 31 step great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her parents Clyde and Mary Stage Myers in 1956, first husband Willard Dodge in 1971, second husband Seth Powers in 2003, two sons-infant son Harold R. Dodge in 1944, son Raymond W. Dodge in 2017, like a son Don Ellis in 2018, her daughter Beatrice Sanford in 2019, infant grandson Ralph D. Sanford in 1975, step son Thomas Powers in 2024, step son David Powers in 2021, step daughter Joan Nadge in 2013, 3 brothers Charles Myers, Lawrence Myers, and Claude Myers, her 6 sisters Marlea "Molly" Plummer, Jennie Haven, Hazel Lapp, Gertrude "Tudy" Leitch, Betty Baum, Edna Spencer, 1 grandson, 2 step grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great great grandson. A calling hour will be Tuesday April 1, 2025, 12-1 pm with a funeral service to begin 1 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial to follow at the Cheningo Cemetery, Truxton NY. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of one's choice.
