Eloise May Albro (Hamilton, Foley), age 85, of Watkins Glen, NY, and formerly of Holiday, FL, passed away peacefully at Corning Guthrie Hospital in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 27, 2025, as the result of injuries sustained from a fall. She was born to Bill and Gladys Hamilton on January 19, 1940, at the family’s home in the Town of Fenton, NY. She grew up on the Towpath in Port Dickinson and attended Chenango Valley High School. Eloise made fast and life-long friends wherever she lived, including Johnson City, Union Center, Marathon, and Homer in NY, then at the Buena Vista Manor community in Holiday, FL. Most recently, she lived with her family in Watkins Glen, then at Catharine Court in Montour Falls, and the Manor at Bethany Village in Horseheads, NY. Special thanks to all who provided her care, and to Lizzie at CareFirst for her kindness and advocacy. She is survived by sons Wesley (Brenda) Foley and Kenneth Foley (Kelley Patterson) of Marathon, NY; daughter Barbara (Robert) Hubbell of Watkins Glen; step-daughter Laura (Joey) Gates of Canal Winchester, OH and stepson Steve Albro of LaFayette, NY; grandchildren Emily (Eric) Walter, Corey (Jasmin) Hubbell, Robert (Jen) Hubbell, Mary Foley, and Aric Bailey; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; beloved sister Carol Secoolish and brother Bill (Janet) Hamilton, special sisters-in-law Patsy Schmidt, Jane Schmidt, Kim Hamilton, Linda Klenotiz, Karen (Don) Foley, Bobbie Foley, Ginny (Roger) Foley; many treasured nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Floyd Albro; step-son Willie Albro; grandson Ben Foley; siblings Al Schmidt, Bob Schmidt, Beverly Torrey, and Dick Hamilton; brothers-in-law Dick Secoolish, Harley (Terri) Albro, Burr Torrey, and Larry Foley; nephew Phil Schmidt and niece Donna McAllister. She was also predeceased recently by her first husband, Norman Foley. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved to fish, dance, play cards, bingo and Wii bowling with her friends, travel, shop, and read books that highlighted Native American culture. Her career included barista at a convenience store, cook and housekeeper at health care facilities, childcare provider, and several factory jobs. She was most proud of her time as an inspector at Wilson Sporting Goods, overseeing the quality of special-order racquets for tennis legends Jimmy Connors, Chris Everett, and Billie Jean King. Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland, NY. Visiting hours will begin at 11:00 am, with memorial service at 1:00 pm, followed by a burial at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
