First and foremost, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I used to visit my Nana (Dorothy Carbonaro 9th Floor) in the senior building on Port Watson in the 1974 - 1983. I became friends with Mrs. Emily Pantley who lived on the 2nd floor across the elevators. We were friends for several years until her passing. I even visited and walked miles to the Hospital to see Emily after her stroke. She didn't remember me, but I still visited, and we held hands for hours. I remember being 14 years old when she passed and Mrs. Pantleys daughter (Joan) took the time to thank me at her service for being such a kind and gentle friend to her mom. Emily was the sweetest to me and ironically nobody else for some reason, hahaha. She was a hoot! We enjoy walks in her wheelchair around town or around the block, trips to the store via wheelchair and sitting under trees for hours watching cars, birds, people and sharing stories our lives. When my Nana passed in 1983, I recall Joan sending the sweetest card and flowers and once again thanking me for being a true friend to her mom all those years. I sadly admit I never reached out after that, as life got in the way and the biggest reasons I had to visit Port Watson Apts were no longer there. Today I finally sat down and looked up names and as fate would have it, I missed my chance to say THANK YOU Joan... Thank you for one of the kindest gestures you gave a young boy. I am now 58 and I never forgot what you did and said during my time of grief 45 years ago. I just wanted someone to know my story hoping it never gets lost or forgotten. I cannot believe how much Joan looks like her mom, it's amazing. I am saddened at the loss of such a kind soul, but I hope my story brings a smile to your faces. I want you to know I never forgot Emily or Joan and their kindness and generosity has stayed with me all these years, 3 heart attacks and 6 heart procedures. I hope I made them smile as well. Stay Blessed, Happy and Healthy... Kindest Always Michael Carbonaro
