Obituary of Daniel John Mieras

Daniel John "Danny" Mieras, 67, of Cortland, New York, entered into the Lord's arms on June 11, 2025, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on August 14, 1957, in The Bronx, New York, Danny was the beloved son of the late Clinton and Leona Mieras. Danny married the love of his life, Laura, in 1988, and together they built a joyful and loving home, raising two cherished daughters, Natalie and Amanda. A devoted family man, Danny was a quiet and steady presence—a dedicated provider whose generosity was matched by his great sense of humor and wonderful work ethic. Danny's 47-year career with ETL and Intertek, beginning in 1978, reflected his steadfast loyalty and commitment. Outside of work and family, he enjoyed bowling and cooking, hobbies that brought him much satisfaction. Danny loved sports and in his 40's he was proud he was able to stand up to guys half his age in ongoing basketball games. In the last few years, Danny really enjoyed listening to music…some of his favorites---Teddy Swims and Jelly Roll. He is survived by his wife Laura; daughters Natalie and Amanda; sisters Harriet Cates (and Gene) and Cecelia Matthews (and Roy); and brother Clinton Mieras Jr. (and Diane). Family and friends are invited to celebrate Danny's life at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY 13045, with visitation held Monday, June 23rd from 2:00-4:00pm immediately followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Danny's memory to The Renzi Cancer Center, 34 W Main St, Cortland, NY 13045. Danny showed extraordinary strength and courage during his illness, facing each setback with grace. He will forever be loved and deeply missed.
