Obituary of Katherine King

Katherine M. "Kathy" King, 71, of Cortland passed away June 25, 2025 at the Groton Community Health Care Center. She was born August 22, 1953 in Cortland the daughter of the late Richard and Maere Tracey Preston. Kathy was a lifelong resident of the area. Her friends and family will remember her working years as owner operator of Kathy's Diner in Marathon for 25 years. Her memberships included the Cortland Eagle's and Moose Clubs. She is survived by her daughter Terri (Vince) Weaver, her son Christopher King, her brother Richard (Michelle) Preston, her sister Cynthia (Carey) Farnsworth, great grandson Levi Kinney, nieces, nephews, and several good friends. In addition to her parents Kathy was predeceased by her grandson Ray Kinney, Calling hours will be Wednesday July 2, 2025 10 am-12 pm with a funeral service to begin 12 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local SPCA or Hospice offices.
