Gray Carlson Dowell posted a condolence

Sandra(Sandy) was a graduate student at SUNY where my father, Alden Carlson, was a professor. She took one of his classes and overtime became a close friend to him and his wife Pat. Later when my father and Pat were in the nursing home she visited regularly and would keep us updated on how they were doing. We had the pleasure of meeting her several times when we came to Cortland. She meant a lot to both my dad and Pat. And it was a comfort to Ralph, my husband, and me to know someone was looking out for them. She left us with very fond memories and she truly was a blessing to my father and Pat. Sincerely, Gray Carlson Dowell

Sandy was such a kind, gentle soul and a cherished presence in our lives. I have such warm memories of dancing with her at Cornell, helping my mom care for her beloved cats when she was out of town, sharing Christmas's at Wheeler ave with her and Peter. She was ALWAYS so sweet and encouraging. I will never forget how proud she was that I was a PA--her support meant more than she probably knew. Sandy, you meant so much to me and my family. You will be deeply deeply missed. We love you so much!
Love, Julia Munteanu and family

It was my pleasure to know Sandy through Scouting. She shared her strenght and willingness to help others in non- sellfish fashion. May she rest in peace. Michael F. Stoll Sr.

I met Sandy years ago when I was a teaching colleague of her husband, Jeff. She always exuded warmth with her radiant smile and soft-spoken demeanor. Thereafter, she always recognized me when we came across each other -- often at an event where she was involved in artistic expression through dance or a visual medium. She was a delight to know and to converse with. The world is diminished by her departure. I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

I met Sandy through the Groton Art Group and was continually amazed at her talent with watercolor. I learned from her. I am so saddened that she has passed, and will miss her presence weekly.
Two years ago, a class project was to paint each other. A really beautiful portrait of her was done that captured her true spirit. I am hoping that picture will be available for the memorial service.
