Obituary of Frances M. Owen

Frances M. Owen, 93, of Cortland, passed away July 5, 2025. She was born June 30,1932 in Manlius NY, the daughter of the late William Button and Iva Howser Button. A longtime resident of the Cortland area, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles E. Owen and her brothers, Raymond and Robert Button. She is survived by her children, Darrell C. Owen (Kathy) of Mocksville NC; Thomas F. Owen (Terri), of Cincinnatus NY; and Sharlene M. Boyden of Homer NY; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Frances lived most of her life in Homer NY, after relocating with her parents as a child. She attended Homer Schools, worked as a full-time mother, Tupperware Manager and Housekeeping Supervisor at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Her memberships included Eastern Stars, 4H, Volunteer parent scout, and a member of the Red Hats society of Florida. Frances's greatest joy was being married to the love of her life, making memories with family and watching her family grow. Her cheerful soul enjoyed shopping trips, traveling adventures, camping, visiting Florida and the beauty of a local car ride. Her undying love will be with us all…. A calling hour will be held Tuesday July 15, 2025 from 10-11 am with a memorial service to begin 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Private burial will be at the West Hill Homer Cemetery.
