Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Endicott, NY — James R. Macuch of Endicott, NY, a beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 at the age of 78. Born in Endicott, NY and raised in Vestal, NY, James (Jim) was known for his unwavering work ethic, warm heart, and steadfast dedication to his family and community. He graduated from Vestal High School, went on to serve honorably in the Army until 1977 and became second generation insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance. Jim was also a proud Paul Harris Fellow lifetime member of Endicott Rotary Club, Tip Club, volunteered at the PGA Dicks Sporting Goods Open, and served as a member of the board for Endicott Municipal Electric, among many other philanthropic endeavors. Though not known by many, Jim was a fantastic amateur painter, he enjoyed relaxing in his recliner with his favorite snacks while watching his favorite shows. Jim loved cracking jokes and could often be found traveling with friends; the trip he looked forward to the most was his annual Las Vegas trip with his best friend of 56 years, Don Moran. He was a big fan of Notre Dame in college sports, but secretly grew to love the West Virginia Mountaineers due to his eldest granddaughter's attendance. James is survived by his former wives Cynthia Schisler and Teri Eisenberg; his children Jennifer Starchok, Alison Omoto (Randy), Joshua Macuch (Christine), Jason Macuch (Ashley); his grandchildren Paige Menser (Christopher), Jeffrey Quinn (Claire), Paul Omoto, Patrick Omoto, Victoria Jaquez, Stuart Omoto, Presley Omoto, Wyatt Macuch, Breya Macuch, Madison Card, Gary Card, Giovanni Macuch, Adelina Macuch; his great grandchildren Jackson Guzman, Milo Quinn and his sibling Helen Schubmehl (Richard); numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Belva Macuch. His kindness, integrity, goofy sense of humor and quiet strength left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at Donoli's in Apalachin New York on August 4, 2025 from 12-3 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, in Jim’s name. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home of Cortland is serving the family, online condolences may be left at www.wright-beard.com
