Obituary of Donna Jean Stroyan Fitts

Donna (Stroyan) Fitts, 75, of Walworth, New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2025. Donna was born on March 13, 1950, in Lockport, New York, to Rodney and Mildred(Ball) Stroyan. She was the salutatorian of the Barker Central School Class of 1968, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Art History from SUNY Cortland. Donna worked at the YWCA of Cortland for over 20 years. She spent the majority of that time serving as the School Age Program Supervisor, where she was deeply appreciated by colleagues and families alike. She also previously sang in the Homer First United Methodist Church choir. In her free time, Donna enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, music, traveling, and spending time at her family’s lake house. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, loyalty, and quiet strength — qualities that touched the lives of those who knew her. Donna is survived by her husband, James Fitts; daughter, Melinda Fitts; grandson,Jackson Higgins; brothers, James and Dan Stroyan; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shari Fitts; father, Rodney Stroyan; and mother, Mildred Stroyan. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to RRH Hospice and Palliative Care Services, and to Donna’s cousin, Kathy Jo, whose selfless support and loving care in Donna’s final days meant so much to her and her family.
